Orangutan and Us
Commemorating World Orangutan Day, which falls every August 19, is a momentum to raise public awareness about the need to protect primates, which have 97% DNA similarity to humans. Orangutans are a bridge for humans to reconnect with nature, even related to culture. These umbrella species that have an important role for the sustainability of forest ecosystems continue to be threatened. It is the responsibility of all parties, including the government, the private sector, academia, community organizations, and local communities, to preserve the orangutans.
