Biography
Protecting sea turtles from extinction is Ading Kurniadi's mission from Derawan Island. The Derawan Archipelago is one of the spawning grounds for animals which is also a symbol of the Berau Regency area. He never tires of sharing conservation knowledge to the people & tourists on Derawan Island about the importance of preserving the oceans and sea turtles.
Almost every night, for more than 10 years, Pak Ading has routinely monitored turtles along the coast on Derawan Island. He will look for natural nests of turtle eggs, then move sea turtle eggs from natural nests to artificial nests or egg hatching locations.
After the eggs hatch, the sea turtle hatchlings are released on the shore. This method, based on Pak Ading's experience, is effective in reducing the rate of sea turtle egg theft on Derawan Island, as well as saving sea turtle eggs for population sustainability. Mr. Ading's noble efforts paid off. Now many residents are involved in conserving sea turtles.
