Biography

Having joined the Forestry Department in 1989, Wiratno has had various roles, such as Head of the Natural Resources Conservation (KSDA) Unit in Yogyakarta, Policy Analyst Conservation International Indonesia, Head of the Gunung Leuser National Park Office, Head of Sub-Directorate patterning of Production Forest Management, Head of the KSDA Unit in NTT, Director of Social Forestry, until becoming Director General of KSDAE in 2017 – 2022. Today, Wiratno is The Minister’s Expert for Restoration & Conservation Partnerships and Head of Conservation Division III of Indonesia's FoluNetSink 2030. He holds a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Gajah Mada University, a Master of Science from the Institute of  Aerospace and Earth Sciences, Netherlands, and most recently in 2022, he received a Doctoral degree from Padjadjaran University.
