Biography
Aji Wahyu Anggoro is a scientist dedicated to the conservation of Indonesia's coastal ecosystems. He is the Blue Carbon Program Manager at Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN), where he leads research and policy initiatives on mangroves. These initiatives encompass a range of activities, including carbon sequestration and biodiversity studies, restoration monitoring, and the development of sustainable financing strategies, such as blue carbon and biodiversity credits. He also supports the formulation of national and subnational mangrove policies, bridging science, policy, and field practices to drive evidence-based climate action in Indonesia.
Aji has a strong academic foundation in conservation. He earned a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where his research focused on utilizing environmental DNA to study biodiversity. Before joining YKAN, he gained valuable experience as a Program Manager at the Indonesian Biodiversity Research Center and as a researcher at UCLA. Additionally, he participated in marine programs with the Wildlife Conservation Society in Karimunjawa National Park and served as a fisheries scientist for Operation Wallacea in Wakatobi.
