Biography
With more than 15 years of experience in greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, climate impact assessments, MRV (measurement, reporting, and verification) systems, and nature-based solutions (NBS), particularly in tropical peatland ecosystems, Nisa Novita is a climate change and forestry expert. As the Peatland Strategic Lead at the Nusantara Nature Conservation Foundation (YKAN), she develops and implements conservation programs related to peatland restoration in Indonesia. She also contributes to strengthening MRV systems to support land-based carbon projects at the national and international levels.
Nisa holds a Ph.D. from Oregon State University, where she specialized in carbon and greenhouse gas emissions from tropical forests and wetlands. Throughout her career, she has worked at various research and implementation institutions, including Winrock International, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), and Oregon State University. There, she focused on carbon stock measurements, peatland emissions, and developing MRV systems for land-based projects. She has also designed several projects in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. She is also an active researcher and contributor to international scientific publications and is involved in climate projects that bridge science, policy, and field implementation.
