Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary is the most miniature wildlife sanctuary in Indonesia, covering an area of 25.02 hectares (equivalent to the size of Mall Grand Indonesia, Jakarta). Despite its small size, this sanctuary, dominated by mangrove ecosystems, is categorized as an Important Bird Area (IBA) by Birdlife International because it is a habitat for protected bird species and migratory birds.

With its accessibility, this unique wildlife sanctuary in Jakarta serves as a place for Jakarta residents to learn about mangrove forests and their biodiversity.

Situated at the edge of Indonesia's most densely populated city, the Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary is not without its share of challenges. It grapples with the impacts of development, environmental issues, climate change, and human activities. This small book will guide you through the journey of understanding the pivotal role of the Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary, the hurdles it faces, and the collaborative efforts between stakeholders to overcome these challenges and safeguard one of Jakarta's last coastal defenses.
