WHY DOES PONGO NEED OUR ACTION?
In the heart of the Kalimantan forest, specifically in the Wehea-Kelay Landscape, lives an orangutan we have named Pongo. He is not just a wild animal, but also a guardian of nature and a witness to all the changes occurring in his home.
Pongo is an umbrella species that plays a crucial role in the sustainability of the forest ecosystem, yet its existence is continuously threatened. The conservation status of orangutans has been critical since 2016. Today, their habitat has significantly decreased in size. Deforestation, land conversion for agriculture, mining, and forest fires have devastated the forests—the very home where Pongo and his companions forage, breed, raise their young, and explore.

Action for Pongo's House!
Every effort to preserve a Home for Pongo ignites hope for the forest ecosystem.

Pongo might think to himself, “I just want to live with my small family, raise my children wholeheartedly, and continue residing in this beautiful home. ”After all, orangutan DNA is 97% similar to that of humans. Imagine how alike we are to Pongo and how he must feel losing the place where he grew up. When we lose our home, we feel lost. Pongo feels the same.
If the tree falls, where will Pongo go home to? Let’s not allow Pongo and the diverse forest species to lose their homes!
This is our chance to take action to protect Indonesia's natural resources, including Pongo's habitat.
